Privacy Policy

Account information. If you sign in, we collect your mobile number to send a one-time password (OTP) and verify your identity. You may optionally add a display name. You can also use the app as a guest without providing any of this.

Content interactions. When signed in, we store the articles you bookmark or like so we can show them back to you across sessions.

Location (optional, on-device). If you grant location permission, the app detects your city to personalise your local news feed. Your coordinates and city name are stored only on your device and are not sent to or stored on our servers.

Notifications. With your permission, we send local notifications for breaking news and updates relevant to you.

Technical information. Like most apps, our servers process standard request metadata (such as IP address and timestamps) to operate the Service securely and reliably.

• To create and secure your account, and verify your identity via OTP;
• To personalise your news feed, including local news near you;
• To remember your bookmarks, likes and language preference;
• To send you breaking news and app notifications;
• To maintain, secure and improve the Service.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

We share information only with service providers who help us run the Service, under appropriate confidentiality obligations:

• An SMS/OTP delivery provider, to send verification codes to your mobile number;
• Cloud storage and hosting providers, to store app content such as images and videos.

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety and security of Banka Today News, our users, or the public.

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. If you request deletion of your account (see below), we delete your profile, phone number, bookmarks and likes from our systems.

• You can use the Service as a guest without creating an account;
• You can disable location or notification permissions at any time in your device settings;
• You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time — see our Delete Account page.

The Service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take appropriate action.

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date above reflects the most recent changes. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
